The End of Democracy in America?

            It’s almost unanimous.  Not totally, but close enough.  Nearly everyone, Democrats, Republicans, liberals, conservatives, dogs, and cats, are vehemently condemning 20 or so Republicans who are holding back the election of a new Speaker of the House.  “Terrorists,” they have been labeled, among other things.  As if the whole world is going to end if it takes a week to put somebody at the head of the House of Representatives.

            Has everybody gone mad?  Was Rome built in a day after all?  You’d think it was, given the way this Speaker election must happen RIGHT NOW, or the country will apparently crumble into ashes. 

            I expect the Democrats and their media cohorts to condemn everything Republicans do; that politics.  But Republicans are joining them, and that is bad news indeed.  Can we have a little calm, please?  My thoughts:

            1.  The 20 House Republicans are doing exactly what is supposed to be done in a democratic republic!!  Please let me repeat that.  The 20 House Republicans are doing exactly what is supposed to be done in a democratic republic!!    The whole idea behind our system is debate, argument, give and take, (supposedly) honorable people coming together to work out solutions that are best for the citizens they serve.  That’s the theory, and it used to work fairly well.  And that is exactly what some Republicans are doing.  The Democrats, who no long care what democracy is, surely think these Republicans are engaged in fascism, but in truth, this debate the GOP is having is very healthy for the country, exactly what is supposed to happen to make sure the best things are done and the best people serve.  Congress almost never does that any more, and as a result, THAT is what is threatening democracy.

            2.  Is McCarthy the best choice or not?  I confess, I don’t really know all that much about Kevin McCarthy, having never researched his voting record, etc.  Until this Speaker thing broke out, I always thought he was a pretty good guy.  But what I read now is that a lot of die-hard conservative Republicans think he is a RINO, and in the absence of any evidence I can give to the contrary, I can’t argue with them.  But I’d like to know, and the country needs to know.        

            Isn’t that what our elected leaders should do, help people like me understand what is best by thrashing out these matters in discussion, debate, and argument?  How will we ever know if Kevin McCarthy is the best choice if nobody is there to challenge him AND MAKE HIM PROVE THAT HE IS??  Am I just required to take Dan Crenshaw’s word that McCarthy should be elected and that every Republican who opposes him is a “terrorist”?  Well, excuse me, Congressman Crenshaw, if I prefer to have evidence and think for myself.  Is a few days of discussion, debate, and negotiation going to destroy America?  Who do these people think they are?  More frightening, who do they think WE are?

            3. Democrats are nothing but robots.  When was the last time any Democrat went against anything their party did?  We might briefly remember Joe Manchin, and AOC voted against the omnibus because it wasn’t totalitarian enough for her.  Manchin, of course, eventually wimped out and caved, and everybody knows AOC is insane.  Again, I ask, when does the Democratic Party ever truly practice democracy?

            And this scares me, because now it is apparently supposed to be the model for both parties.  Too many Republicans are willing to go along with this kind of fascist approach—you just accept what we say, everybody toe the line, quit contradicting or questioning us, you are nothing but a deplorable peasant.  We know that is what the Democratic Party thinks.  But now, is the Republican Party accepting that paradigm, too?  Thank God for Matt Gaetz and his freedom caucus that is demanding some answers and protections for the American people. 

            The Democratic Party is gone, we all can see that.  That party almost never has anyone break ranks any more on important matters.  They are robots.  They do what they are told by their leadership and, currently, that message is “100% against McCarthy.”  The Democratic Party, perhaps next to the Chinese Communist Party and Zelensky’s Ukraine, is the most un-democratic, pro-totalitarian political institution in the world.  Which is why they love the CCP and Zelensky so much.

            And Mitch McConnell and too much of the Republican Party is apparently more than willing to follow that archetype.  Let the Washington establishment decide everything.  This would indeed be the end of democracy.

            4.  There will be a new Speaker soon.  I don’t know who it will be, I have no inside knowledge or input into the matter.  But if that decision takes a few more days of doing what is supposed to be done in a democratic republic, then that’s fine with me.  If the hearings on Hunter Biden don’t start tomorrow, I don’t think America will come crashing down the day after tomorrow.  I will have a whole lot more confidence in whoever the new Speaker is now that some courageous, bold, America-loving Republicans stood up and DEMANDED answers and negotiations.  The Speaker of the House is third in line for the Presidency.  It is an incredibly important position that demands thorough investigation and proper vetting.  The Democrats, obviously, never do that and never will, because they gave up democracy long ago.  It is imperative, for the sake of America, that the Republican Party not follow suit.

            If the Republicans follow Mitch McConnell and the Democrats, then what few vestiges we have left of democratic republicanism will vanish.  Probably forever.

            Keep the fire stoked, Matt, until you get what we need.  Let the belly-achers belly-ache.

I will write an article on this theme soon, but here just give the brief quote.  There, of course, remain a lot of good people in the United States.  But how much arsenic in a glass of milk does it take to kill you?  Millions and millions of Democrats might be “good” people, but they just aren’t very smart.  By voting Democrat, they are destroying America.  They can’t see that, and that is a tragedy.  The American tree is too rotten now, and the apples it produces (Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, etc.) are mostly rotten, too.

There will be no middle ground.  A society never stands still and holds its ground.  It either advances, goes forward, or it slides backwards, into slime and oblivion.  There is absolutely no doubt that, right now, America is being ruled from a sewer.

     If you have been a regular, and/or recent, visitor to this blog, you’ve probably noticed that lately there have been some ads showing up.  You know they are common on just about every website now.

    I’m sorry about the nuisance, but I do get a penny or two when you click on an ad.  Unlike most famous people (hahaha! Unvaxxed Canadian Woman Denied Life-Saving Organ Transplant

            This is what single-payer, socialized medicine looks like.  This is what Bernie Sanders and the whole Democratic Party wants for you and your family.

            Last summer, a provincial judge in Alberta, Canada, denied a woman a possible life-saving organ transplant because she had not been vaccinated against the Wuhan coronavirus.  The government pays for it, so the government gets to decide what treatment you get.

            The woman had argued, “Taking this vaccine offends my conscience.  I ought to have the choice about what goes into my body and a life-saving treatment cannot be denied to me because I chose not to take an experimental treatment for a condition—COVID-19—which I do not have and which I may never have.”

            But, lady, you are a peasant, a Canadian deplorable.  The judge actually agreed that the woman was the sole arbiter of what she put into her body, but, he argued, no one has an inherent right to an organ transplant.

            And, in truth, I agree with the judge on that last point.  There is no “natural right” to an organ transplant, though, I suppose, we could have fun splitting some hair on that since the “right to life” is considered a natural right, except when it comes to unborn babies.  The problem is, it should be none of that judge’s business in the first place whether the woman gets an organ transplant or not.  That should be totally a decision made by her, her doctors, and whoever is paying for it.

            Oops.  And there’s the rub.  When the government pays for it, the government gets to decide if you get it or not.  It’s the “single-payer” system.  Bureaucrats determine who lives and who dies, and boy, they love that, the ultimate in power and control over other human beings.  Welcome to Stalin’s USSR and Xi Jinping’s China. 

Justin Trudeau Canada.  Bernie Sanders’ and Barak Obama’s America.  The Left’s everywhere.

            The political element is also evident in this Canadian judge’s decision.  I don’t know his politics, but I do know Joe Biden’s, and if he, and the Democratic Party, will try to intimidate people into proper speech—as they have been doing the past few years—can you imagine what intimidations they can perform if given control over life and death?  How many Americans have been harassed and jailed for questioning the “science” of Covid vaccines, or the integrity of the 2020 Presidential election?  Yeah, let’s give these thugs total control of our health care system.  “You need life-saving treatment?  Let’s see….who did you vote for in the last election?  Oh, sorry, we don’t have the money to pay for your treatment...”  Do we honestly think that can’t happen in the United States?  You trust Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, AOC?

            Canada, under Justin Trudeau, has gone full-blown totalitarian.  A few month ago, a Canadian father was denied the right to see his child because he wasn’t vaxxed.  You obey the government’s arbitrary rules, or you suffer the consequences.  If the government gives you the rights you have, and pays for them, then the government can deprive you of those rights.  If they give, they can take away.  That’s what we fought a revolution against in 1776.  The Democratic Party wants another revolution to overthrow the one we had in 1776.  And if we give them control of our health care system, they will be one step closer to having the revolution they crave and the power they lust for. 

To see the truth of that, all we have to do is look north of the border for verification.
