If I Were a Democratic Party Strategist...

The Democrats know how to win elections.  That is obvious, since they win most of them.  The elections they can’t win fairly, they try to steal, and they are good at that, too.  It is all about political power to them.  Unlike Republicans, they crave it, it is all they live for, they think they deserve it and should run your life.  They are single-minded and tunnel-visioned about it.

If I were a Democratic Party strategist, looking at the 2024 election, right now—April, 2023, still a long way before the election—I would want to run against Donald Trump.  He looks like a bull in a China shop, his own worst enemy, he has antagonized many in his own party and probably well over half the Independent voters he needs to win the Presidency again.  He is a harsh, insulting, narcissistic prick who constantly shoots himself in the foot, and has no clue how to build a coalition to win.  He is popular among “base” Republicans, but that isn’t near enough to put him back in the White House.

If I’m a Democrat, I want to run against Trump.  How do I ensure he is nominated as the head of the Republican Party ticket next year?

Well, again, we are still a long way until the election.  We (Democrats) indict Trump for some stupid, vacuous crimes.  This will gain him some support among wavering Republicans and maybe even some Independents.  Good.

Alvin Bragg has said that he is planning Trump’s trial next January—right in the middle of the primary season.  That will cause another backlash, and welling up of support for Mr. Trump, especially among Republicans.  Good again.  He rides that wave to his party’s nomination for President.  Great.  We get to run against Trump, just what we want.

Then, maybe after it is clear Mr. Trump will be his party’s nominee, several months before November, we drop the case against him.  That looks bad, but people’s memories are short.  He won’t be able to “cry” martyr during the campaign season if he isn’t being tried.  Trump will be his usual narcissistic, arrogant, insulting self during the campaign, reminding everybody why they don’t want him to be President again.

We win.  America is ours.   And Republicans eat themselves again, wondering what happened.

But Trump wins if he follows my advice.
